I went here to introduce my friend to Colombian food and we were both very impressed. Delicious and freshly made empanadas. Our bandeja dish was very filling. Prices were very reasonable. The staff was friendly and the space was small and intimate with nice decorations. I am absolutely coming back here if I crave Colombian food in Bridgeport.
Today we visited El Pueblito to celebrate my 28th Birthday. We have been coming to El Pueblito for years for their fantastic Columbian food.
This evening I had my wife, parents, and grandfather with me. We started with a few appetizers including some empenadas and tostones. The empenadas were nice and crisp and the tostones come with this very flavorful salsa.
For an entree I ordered the El Bandejo del Pueblito which is basically a "one of everything" meat dish which comes with steak, chicken, sausage, and pork. Each entree came with rice and beans. My wife loved her chicken tacos and everyone else at our table enjoyed their food and said they'd return with us next year.
The only issues I have with this location is that the servers do not speak much English and sometimes it's hard to communicate with them - and there always seems to be a fruit fly flying around the table. However, the friendliness of the staff and quality of the food overshadow these minor inconveniences. I would recommend anyone looking for a classic Columbian dish visit El Pueblito Restaurant.
We recently were looking for place to eat before a 4 o'clock show at the Bijou. Not much is open at that time on a sunday and this was two blocks away. It looked authentic and prices were reasonable so we gave it a try. We are glad we did. the food was great and the place is cute inside. give it a try.
The food was great but service was not good at all. Walked in had a seat looked over the menu then about 15 minutes later was able to order the food and drinks. Food came out in pieces. First the food and meat, then the empanadas (still waiting on drinks) then waitress had a slight attitude when my boyfriend asked for the drinks. Then the drinks came then the beans for our food. It was not good service at all.
Today is Sunday,I made an order for pick up. When I get there I tell the lady behind the bar about my order. She automatically gives me an attitude like I did something to her. Calls my name from the kitchen door and is holding my bag with food in the air. So I can walk to her and pick up. Very unprofessional, customers shouldn’t have to have to walk to the kitchen door to get their food. Waitress is supposed to be professional and hand the food to client. But this girl just had an attitude problem, too bad cuz the food is good.
I know this is in downtown but when we walked in and there was nobody in there eating at 6:00 PM, you would think that the staff would come out and greet you. However, we stood in the doorway waiting for a bit before getting attended to. The food was just ok.
Enjoyed a traditional bandeja paisa for a Sunday Lunch. The service was rapid, but not attentive. The alcohol selection was limited to wine and beer. The decor was rather minimal and I didn't feel like there was an attempt to really theme the restaurant to be Colombian. I'm not sure I'd go back overall.
Food was excellent. We had the sancocho de gallina (hen soup) and also the beef chaufa rice. Empanadas were a great appetizer choice. Rodrigo was our server who was excellent.
